ZRVP Launches the Second Edition of the Civil Procedure Competition „Viorel-Mihai Ciobanu”

The competition is open to all law students of the 4th year and aims to foster and cultivate interest in civil procedural law.

ZRVP, in collaboration with the University of Bucharest, the Faculty of Law, organizes this spring the second edition of the Civil Procedure competition „Viorel-Mihai Ciobanu”. The competition is open to all law students of the 4th year and aims to foster and cultivate interest in civil procedural law.

The competition will take place between 09 March – 20 April 2020 and is divided in the following phases:

9 March 2020

The topic of the essay is published

25 March 2020

Submission deadline of the essays

30 March 2020

Case materials are sent to the finalists of the first phase

13 April 2020

Submission and defence of the written conclusions in front of a select committee of two ZRVP lawyers and one academic from the Faculty of Law.

Appointing of the winners

20 April 2020

Awards gala

 

As in the first edition, ZRVP will award two prizes to the best competitors: 

  • The prize of excellence “Viorel Mihai Ciobanu” worth EUR 1,000 for the correct and rigorous scientific analysis of the case.
  • The prize of excellence “Viorel Mihai Ciobanu” worth EUR 2,000 for the most original pleading.

The initiative of the law firm, supported by the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, represents a tribute to the personality, the work and the entire academic activity of the distinguished Professor Viorel-Mihai Ciobanu, former dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, Judge at the Constitutional Court, President of the International Commercial Arbitration Court attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, honorary member of the Romanian Bar Association and coordinator of the drafting team of the New Code of Civil Procedure, and wishes to promote students’ interest in the field of civil procedural law.
